What is werfault.exe?
werfault.exe is a process for Windows 10 or 11 that reports errors in Windows, and in Windows applications. These error reports help developers find and fix bugs in Windows along with the apps you use every day. Windows Error Reporting will often suggest a solution if you’re experiencing a major problem with Windows or a Microsoft application, so we do not recommend disabling it.

Why does werfault.exe access the network?
While investigating werfault.exe with the GlassWire network security monitor on our devices based in the USA we found it connects to the host umwatson.trafficmanager.net that is controlled by Microsoft’s Cloud Service called Azure. We found blocking Windows Error Reporting with GlassWire’s firewall causes no issues that we could find, but app developers and Microsoft may not learn about bugs they should fix if you don’t allow them to receive the info from this useful app.
